e-Twinning?
LET US SHOW EACH OTHER OUR EUROPE
e-Twinning project INSPIRING YOUTH TO GET INVOLVED IN FRIENDSHIP This project will allow students of two different countries to communicate with each other:
to improve their skills of English language, to get involved in a deep friendship without borders. They will communicate by e-mail and in a second phase they will chat in voice using software like Skype or other messengers. The arguments will be various: the life, culture, traditions, cities, homeland and personal interests and hobbies. The final goal, to enhance the benefit of the project, could be to have a meeting between the two groups of students, in Italy or in Poland.

It is the third time when we take part in European Spring Day. From the Science and Debate set we have chosen the project ‘Where is Europe?’.
The chief officer of our commune was invited to take part in the debate with the students. He presented a positive attitude toward European affairs implying that our commune could not afford major investments if it were not for the European Union. The EU granted us with financial support in many sectors, like: road improvements, building sewage purification plant, sidewalks – building. Owing to the EU favour our commune has changed its image. It has become cleaner, safer and friendlier not only toward the inhabitants but also visitors of the area of Wadowice Górne. The commune council plans to introduce litter segregation in the nearest future as well.
We gain thousands of Polish zlotys from the EU programmes such as: HACCP, SAPARD. Without the financial assistance neither commune council nor district authorities could have managed to accomplish all of the projects.
The majority of our commune population is farmers. It is the occupation which has been given crucial financial supplements from the EU budget. It has caused a modification in farmers perspective. Now they invest in their farms more willingly. The development and progress of our villages can be easily observed. Both the young and adult choose to stay, live and cultivate their paternal fields.
What benefits of the Polish accession to the EU are obtained by the school youth? The main one is the possibility of coming into contact with schools from other European countries within such programmes like: Socrates Comenius and Leonardo da Vinci. Our junior high school has taken advantage of that prospect and we have entered into e-correspondence with schools from Slovenia and Turkey. German youth group were our guests last year. We visited Strasbourg and the European Parliament. We trust that some day students from Wadowice Gorne will have a chance to study in Oxford or work in some of the EU institutions. The participants of the debate came to the mutual conclusion that the main advantages of being a member of the EU are:-financial support - the possibility of studying and working abroad.
Taking an opportunity we would like to express our gratitude and thank the chief officer of Wadowice Gorne commune for the willingness in taking part in students debate.
